ERS Medical Ambulance Patient Transport

Emergency medical awareness for younger pupils

Children at the Silcoates School in Wakefield, West Yorkshire were excited to receive a visit from ERS Medical crew members last week. Chris Eiffert and Pete Harding, Emergency Care Assistants, had a fun packed and informative morning planned for the children providing emergency medical awareness for the pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.

The day began with a tour around the ambulance, gaining first-hand experience of being rescued on a stretcher. They then covered their ears as they experienced the sound of the emergency sirens.

Chris and Pete delivered an interactive presentation to the children, teaching them about how to call the emergency services and, perhaps more importantly, how to decide if an incident is an emergency or not.  The children got hands on learning how to administer simple CPR and finished the visit off with an ambulance colouring competition hoping to win a range of prizes.
