ERS Medical makes the grade

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has confirmed in its latest reports that the patient transport and emergency response services provided by ERS Medical meet its high standards. CQC is the independent regulator of all health and social care services in England which ensures the care provided by hospitals, dentists, ambulances, care homes plus services in people’s own homes meets a national standard of quality and safety.

ERS Medical was inspected in an unannounced visit by the CQC which explored the care and welfare of the people who use the service, cleanliness and infection control, requirements relating to staff plus the assessment of the quality of the service provision.

Earlier this year, ERS Medical completed the acquisition of Rapid and Secure, adding the movement and care of people suffering from mental health illness to its existing portfolio of specialist healthcare transport services. The CQC report documented it met its criteria in every area it assessed:

“A hospital manager told us they were very satisfied with the service. They said that staff were ‘professional and courteous’ and always well briefed about the patient’s specific needs. They told us that the service was timely and they were kept informed of any delays. They said that they had never known a case where the ambulance team had used restraint because they had good communication skills and were able to de-escalate anxious, tense situations.”

ERS Medical said: “We are committed to providing the highest quality of care through all of our patient services. We are pleased to have been approved by the CQC and will strive to continue delivering to improve upon these already high standards.”
