ERS Medical retains PTS contract in Norfolk

ERS Medical has been awarded a further five year contract to provide non-emergency patient transport services for Norfolk (excluding Great Yarmouth and Waveney). The nationwide patient transport and healthcare courier provider has been delivering the service to the area for the last five years and was awarded the contract again following a rigorous procurement process.

The contract, which was commissioned by the NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups for Norwich, South Norfolk, West Norfolk and North Norfolk, will see ERS Medical continue to provide non-emergency patient transport across all of Norfolk excluding Great Yarmouth and Waveney.

The service transports patients who are registered with a GP Practice in Norwich, South, West or North Norfolk, who have a medical need and who are unable to travel without assistance. On average, ERS Medical provides around 140,000 patient journeys a year across Norfolk.

ERS Medical Managing Director, Andrew Pooley, said: “We are delighted to be able to continue caring for the patients of Norfolk and build on the existing services we’ve been delivering to the area for a number of years. We look forward to continuing to work with the Norfolk community and delivering a service which is focussed on patient care.”

ERS Medical’s East region was recently rated as ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The CQC inspectors visited ERS Medical’s locations in Norwich, Kings Lynn, Snetterton and Chelmsford to conduct an inspection as part of its Quality Report. The same five questions are asked during every inspection of any service: are they safe, effective, caring, responsive to people’s needs, and well-led?

ERS Medical will continue to work with Voluntary Norfolk to recruit and train volunteer drivers to transport patients and clients to health, social care and wellbeing appointments.
