GP Out of Hours transportation contract goes live in Durham and Darlington
ERS Medical has been successful in securing a new contract covering Durham and Darlington for GP Out Of Hours (OOH) transportation.
The contract was launched on the 16 November 2015 offering an alternative for patients needing medical assistance outside of normal surgery opening hours. The OOH driver service will enable GPs to visit patients at home when ambulance assistance is not required.
The service will operate from ERS Medical’s North East site at Bowburn in Durham operating 6pm until 8am, seven days a week, 365 days a year. The service will also include a dedicated call handler and dispatch function dedicated to the contract.
Mark Merriman, ERS Medical General Manager, said: “We are delighted to be providing GP OOH transportation to patients in the Durham and Darlington area. The new service will help to reduce the large number of unnecessary ambulance call outs during the OOH period,”
The OOH GP service is now available for all patients residing in the Durham and Darlington area and ERS Medical will be working closely with the North of England Commissioning Support Unit to continually develop and improve patient services.
