Training Partnership with WYFS sparks ‘hands on’ learning
ERS Medical recently teamed up with the West Yorkshire Fire Service at its Skelmanthorpe base to provide its students with emergency scenario simulation training in preparation for their Trainee Technician qualification.
Students participated in ‘real-life’ situations with the help of West Yorkshire fire-fighters and actors pretending to be injured and trapped in vehicles, a situation that they are likely to be challenged with in the ‘real’ world. The simulation not only recreated an emergency situation where speed is imperative but it allowed the students to understand the importance of working in tandem with other emergency services under pressure.
ERS Medical said: “We strive to not only provide our students with theoretical knowledge but also practical learning, so they are comfortable, confident and qualified when faced with real life situations. We are able to deliver a wide range of training including accredited FPOSi, Emergency and Non-emergency driving courses, Ambulance Technician and Paramedic programmes for people that work or want to work within the pre-hospital care, patient transport or specialist healthcare courier sector.
“It’s partnerships like this that allow our students to build their confidence and put their skills in practice. A big thank you to WYFS for helping us to provide this vital training scenario, our students really enjoyed it.”
